Project Assistant

As the project assistant, Mohammed provides general administrative support to program managers and program directors and assists with team projects. He acts as a liaison with other departments to resolve day-to-day administrative and operational problems and assists with learning preparations for clients. With a strong background in project management, Mohammed’s key responsibilities include management, resourcing, communications, and planning.

Prior to joining Duke CE, Mohammed’s professional experience has been in Iraq, working in both corporate and humanitarian sectors. In his last role, Mohammed managed “Protection and Empowerment of Iraqi Women and Girls” project – a project that provided psychosocial and legal services to victims of gender-based violence (GBV). He also managed two signature programs on a national level – one was engaging high level male stakeholders into civil dialogues about violence against women and how to prevent it, the other program was a social media campaign about raising awareness amongst women and girls in Iraq about women rights, types of violence, and channels of service provision to victims of violence. He has worked closely with the Iraqi President Advisor for Gender and Civil Society to craft and execute several projects to bring about positive cultural changes.

Mohammed has a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUIS). As a London newcomer, Mohammed spends his free time exploring the city, watching stand-up comedy, and spending time with his family.
