John is currently an Executive Director at Duke CE with responsibility for a large client team and portfolio of work. In this role, he also sits on the Executive Committee and leads Duke CE’s internal Talent Development efforts. Over eight years at the firm, he has had numerous roles including most recently Regional Managing Director (RMD) of the Eastern U.S. In that role, he managed our primary location for more than three years, taking over the reins from our founder. Starting his Duke CE career in 2002 as a member of the Global Learning Resource Network, John later served as a Managing Director.

For nearly 15 years, John has been engaged in helping experienced leaders effectively address personal and professional challenges in the global business environment. In addition to living and working in London for nearly five years, John has taught and consulted in Africa, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. Since 2007, he has been partnering with colleagues at the Duke-National University of Singapore Medical School to deploy a unique team-based learning approach as part of a new curriculum. John was appointed an Adjunct Faculty member at Duke-NUS in 2008. In addition to designing and orchestrating learning experiences that help deliver business outcomes, he has coached executives and worked with business teams to enhance their performance.

John also has expertise as an executive, consultant, and entrepreneur. For more than 15 years early in his career, he worked internationally in the professional services industry as a senior executive and experienced consultant. John led the operations of a rapidly growing professional services firm with responsibility for human resources, recruiting and staffing, professional development and training, finance and administration. As a consultant, he worked in the United States and Europe in progressive roles leading to partnership. His expertise includes operational and business process improvement, strategic and business area planning, performance management, and managing change.
In the early 1990s, John started and led the growth of a retail services business to more than 400 employees and $10 million in revenue in less than three years, with responsibility for strategic leadership as well as day-to-day operations. Early in his career he worked in marketing and management positions for product and service divisions of a major telecommunications provider.

John holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Engineering and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
