Director of Digital Learning
Amanda Newton is the Director of Digital Learning, located in North America, where she influences the digital strategy of Duke Corporate Education and leads the implementation, operations, and support of learning technologies. She spearheaded the implementation of the MyDukeCE learning experience platform and supports the global operations team in the continued expansion of our frame for digital learning, from consulting on complex UX and UI design to sourcing emerging learning technologies to enhance our digital offerings.
Amanda is a passionate advocate for the power of digital and blended learning to transform leaders and drive measurable ROI for clients. She brings 15 years of experience in learning and development to the team with expertise in instructional systems design, gamification, and learning technology.
Prior to joining Duke CE, Amanda spent six years at The Walt Disney Company, first as a designer of open-enrollment professional development courses and custom client engagements for the global Fortune 500, then developing enterprise leaders across the spectrum of the business – from Walt Disney Studios to Disney Parks Experiences, and Products. She was responsible for helping drive digital learning initiatives across the enterprise and developed the first large-scale, fully virtual social learning leadership development experience for a global audience of 30,000 enterprise leaders.
As a part of her work consulting with some of the most well-known brands around the world, she developed deep knowledge on a broad range of skills that contribute to her digital design expertise, including storyboarding and wireframing, UX design and testing, AR learning application design, chatbot development, microlearning, e-learning, video and audio production, graphic design, social learning, gamification, and assessment and data analytics.
Amanda holds a Master’s Degree in Instructional Design and Technology, Instructional Systems from the University of Central Florida, where her work garnered an award for ‘Engaging Community Online’. She also holds dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and International Relations from Stetson University and is an AmeriCorps alumna, having served two years in her local community managing youth volunteer programs, disaster response and recovery volunteer staffing, and CitizenCorps program recruiting. Amanda volunteers her time at a local equine rescue and therapeutic riding program and can be found restoring and refinishing mid-century furniture, traveling off-grid, or photographing daily life in her free time.
