Director, Global Educator Network
Always up for a good conversation, Teresa considers herself fortunate to be at Duke CE where there are always a few going on at some time of the day or night. There is always one to be had with a colleague or an educator about what’s keeping leaders up at night, how we could be of help and how to best make a difference. Her many years of experience in communication spring to action each time in questions she asks, a variety of answers she’s able to synthesize, conclusions she makes and is not afraid to be corrected on, as well as the well-placed humor to get a smile out of even the most stern of them.
As part of the global educator network team, she searches, identifies and profiles educators based on fit to content, context, relevance and experience. Teresa not only looks for new educators to bring to the network but continues to seek out existing educators to refresh information and knowledge on each one. After all, clients’ market environments change, contract, and expand so educators, too, must have content and style that keep up with the times.
At almost every stop in her career, she was asked to either establish, revamp and realign and/or institutionalize corporate and marketing communication practices which paved the way for an effective and efficient management of process and budget utilization; the objective being to help drive revenue growth. She has also provided strategic marketing communication inputs designed to define and identify the company’s segments, targets and overall positioning, communication plans and activities to reach the company’s and/or specific products and services’ segments and targets. She has held leadership positions in the automotive, banking and finance, public relations, real estate and telecommunication industries.
Teresa also spent several years in broadcast media in the Philippines. She started as a cub reporter and eventually covered the Philippine President while also news-casting and hosting public affairs programs. She counts the many positive interactions with captains of industry, politicians, entertainment, fashion figures, academicians, and with the man on the street as precious memories that have lasted longer than the Hi8s and the SVHS tape files she has stowed away somewhere that’s now orphaned of a player.
Teresa has over 28 years of experience in communications – Corporate and Marketing Communication, Broadcast Journalism. She was born, raised, educated and began her career in Manila, Philippines. She continues to shuttle back and forth to Canada, has lived many years in Malaysia and is currently based in Singapore. She has an MBA from the University of South Australia, a BA in Mass Communication with a major in Journalism from the University of the Philippines, a certificate in CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teaching to Adults), and Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA Singapore).
