Michèle Taipale is Client Director for Western North America at Duke Corporate Education in San Francisco, where she is responsible for identifying and managing new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships and developing brand awareness. In addition, she works to harness regional innovation and creativity to expand Duke CE’s scope with new experiences and resources.
Michèle is a creative and passionate advocate for human potential. She has enjoyed a long career in management consulting and leadership development, as well as founding a number of small businesses in both manufacturing and services. In addition to her work with Duke CE, she is an executive leadership coach in the Bay Area. With her broad range of experience, from entrepreneur to strategy consultant, practical experience helps her understand organizational issues from multiple perspectives.
Michèle also serves as an active advisor and coach to young founders and innovators of pro-social companies such as Copia’s Komal Ahmad and Kidogo’s Sabrina Habib (winner of the 2017 Unilever Young Entrepreneur Awards). She is a founding coach of the non-profit The Coaching Fellowship, which nurtures and brings together some of the world’s most extraordinary young women leaders of impact.
Michèle’s previous experience includes over a decade as a global strategy consultant in the power and telecommunications industries. She has developed and delivered customized leadership and management programs for companies such as ABB, ATT, LG, Telstra, Swisscom, Telefonica and Lucent Technologies. Michèle also created and led a small manufacturing business selling to the pet and equestrian industries, with distributors throughout the US, Canada, and Australia.
Michèle received her MBA from the Wharton School, an MA in International Affairs from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Montana. She is a fellow of the Lauder Institute of International Studies and has been a member of Ellen Langer’s Mindfulness Lab in the Psychology Department at Harvard University. Michèle is a certified coach with The Coaches Training Institute and a Happiness Advantage Coach with Shawn Achor’s GoodThink, Inc. She has an extensive international background and speaks English, French and German.
