David Leonard. Ph.D.
David is a global business executive, consultant and coach committed to helping leaders accomplish more than they think is possible. Many of today’s organizations have unintentionally constrained and drained their most critical resource – their leaders’ energy and passion. Working as a trusted advisor and partner, David creates innovative development interventions and designs enterprise talent systems that enable business strategy, drive change and exponentially improve individual, team and business performance.
David regularly works with clients in the areas of leadership and culture, organizational alignment, executive team effectiveness and strategy execution. He brings to Duke CE more than 25 years of experience working with business leaders to build capability and agility, enhance individual and team efficacy, and achieve strategic objectives. He has led projects all over the world and in a variety of industries including energy, financial and professional services, retail and pharmaceuticals. Previous clients include Suncor Energy, ExxonMobil, Sun Life Financial, Wachovia, Schneider Electric, Lowe’s, Kroger, Wells Fargo, Eisai, Pfizer, Owens Corning, State Farm and Skanska.
Prior to joining Duke CE, David was a member of the UNC Executive Development leadership team with responsibility for client service, solution design and business expansion. He also worked with Sibson Consulting, a global talent management consulting firm, as a leader in their employee and executive effectiveness practices. He began his career as a faculty member at the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University.
A North Carolina native, David graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in psychology, The University of Richmond with an MA in psychology and Case Western Reserve University with a PhD in organizational behavior. He lives in Durham, North Carolina with his wife and two teenage daughters.
