Carrie joined Duke CE in 2004 designing and delivering customized executive education programs to meet our clients’ strategic business challenges. Her client facing work included customer relationship management, collaborating with thought leaders, facilitating conversations, designing to outcome & budget and world class program delivery. After six years focused on external clients, Carrie leveraged that experience and shifted her focus internally to continue to provide high-quality advisory services to Duke CE client facing teams and senior leadership in a newly created role reporting directly to the CFO.
As the director of commercial capability (CC), Carrie leads the team responsible for project financial operations globally. The CC team responsibilities span the spectrum of financial operations including; procurement and contract negotiation, invoice and accounts receivable management, revenue forecasting and recognition. One of the most unique aspects of the CC team has been their creation of customized financial management reports combined with individual consultation with leadership and project owners. This specialized service empowers teams to efficiently manage projects and service client needs. As a part of the broader finance group, the CC team provides support consultation which enables senior leadership to develop strategies for doing business in an increasing complex global marketplace.
Despite an ever-changing landscape and challenges, Carrie and the CC team have cultivated a professional, collaborative team dedicated to project data integrity, cash management & management analysis and reporting. The result has been greater transparency, reduction in audit costs and improved financial performance.
Before coming to Duke CE, Carrie was a member of the Fuqua School of Business team that launched The Duke MBA-Cross Continent program. As director of operations, she managed program logistics, coordinated with faculty, developed and managed the operating budget, and held responsibility for vendor relationship management. Prior to joining Duke, Carrie spent several years working at Dartmouth College managing the student union center.
Carrie holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, an MA in Public Administration from Framingham State College, and a BS in Exercise Physiology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Outside of Duke CE, Carrie and her husband Rusty enjoy chasing their two sons around Durham and exploring all that the vibrant city has to offer.
