Kevin Young
Associate Director, Learning Methods
Within the Learning Methods group, Kevin works with clients and client teams to design develop and implement learning interventions. The Learning Methods group focuses on developing and maintaining leading edge practices for learning experiences. The work of this team also includes developing the next wave of experiential learning methodologies.
Kevin has extensive experience designing, developing, and delivering learning interventions in a variety of disciplines’ for a range of audiences. He has created learning interventions in topics from leadership and interpersonal communication to disease progression of sexually transmitted infections. His audiences have included CDC Public Health Services staff, the Haitian Medical Association, and eighth graders at the International Community School in Abidjan. He has done extensive curriculum design work with public health professionals in Central Asia, West Africa, and Haiti. Kevin spent the first 10 years of his professional career in West Africa and was the Education Program Director for the Peace Corps Regional Training Center in Senegal.
Prior to assuming his current role, Kevin was the Vice President of Programming at the Poe Center for Health Education, in Raleigh, N.C., where he designed learning initiatives that address current health issues among the state's youth. His current research looks at the effectiveness of an experiential learning program designed to improve nutrition and fitness routines among North Carolina youth.
Kevin earned his B.S. in Engineering at S.U.N.Y., Utica, and his M.A. in International Management at the School for International Training.
Kevin volunteers in the local public school system, leading healthy lifestyles education. His two young daughters are his favorite source for innovative learning ideas. Their recent acquisition of roller skates will generate some interesting learning intervention ideas. |
