Todd M. Warner

Managing Director

Todd M. Warner serves as a Managing Director at Duke Corporate Education.  Based in the Duke CE London Office, Todd tends to work with clients whose focus is on developing senior leaders, behavioral change, and utilizing non-traditional approaches.  As a self-proclaimed “card carrying member of the lunatic fringe,” Todd is always on the prowl for innovative ways to provoke, integrate, and inspire learning.  His recent programmatic pursuits represent his far flung interests, and include:  Large, complex deal making, enabling innovation and new growth platforms, leadership development and storytelling, leveraging literature and art in learning designs, and a concept he refers to as “unlearning”.

Todd’s roots are in leadership development and education, having designed, participated in, or taught leadership development programs with a range of Executive Development Associates clients, including Fidelity, UBS, Weyerhaeuser, Texas Instruments, a number of academic institutions, including Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, and Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, The Center for Creative Leadership, as well as a myriad of Duke CE projects, including a variety of programs with Royal Dutch Shell, Anglo American, Honeywell, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, and focused senior-level work with Merck and Unilever.

After receiving a B.A. from Albion College and an M.Ed. from John Carroll University, Todd spent over a decade in the West. He resided in Colorado Springs, CO for several years, where he was the Founding Director of the Gardner Carney Leadership Institute and the Wilderness Leadership Institute at Fountain Valley School.  In 1999, he relocated to New York City, and attended Columbia University as the youngest Klingenstein Fellow on record, researching the correlation between leadership, authority, and organizational culture.  Meanwhile, Todd received an M.A. in Literature from Middlebury College, and an Ed.M. in Organizational Leadership from Columbia University's Teachers College.

Like many people in this industry, Todd’s emergence into the world of Executive Leadership Development was non-linear.  He often protests that he was “raised by wolves,” as his thinking about leadership and development is largely attributed to a network of incredible mentors and friends, including Richard Kimball and Action Learning Associates, James Bolt of Executive Development Associates, Morgan McCall, Chris Cappy and Pilot Consulting, Laree Kiely, Jay Conger, Jim Moore—former CLO at Sun Microsystems, and Blair Sheppard and Duke CE.

When not enmeshed in work, Todd finds time for his other passions.  Todd has climbed several 6,000-meter peaks in South America, guided mountaineering trips across North America, and fly-fished and mountain biked across the world.  He is also a confessed oenophile and food snob.  Todd lives with his wife, Christine—an importer—their son, Finn, and their daughter, Ava, in London, but keeps a home in Crested Butte, Colorado.
