Marla Tuchinsky

Faculty

Marla began working with Duke Corporate Education in May 2002. She is involved in designing, developing and delivering executive education strategies and programs for corporate clients.

Previously, she was at Cisco Systems headquarters, in their World Wide Leadership and E-Learning for Professional Development groups. Her work there included creating and implementing e-learning offerings as well as designing leadership development curricula and programs. She acted as an internal consultant to several divisions, helping them craft and implement their development strategies.

Marla’s research and publications have focused on how different forms of relationships affect communication and negotiation processes.  Her work has explored the role of telecommunications media in business relationships.  She and her co-authors also have looked at innovation strategies and resource allocations as companies transition a new product to the mass market.  Recently, she and her team wrote the Leading from the Center book series, focusing on the challenges middle managers face. She has spoken on her research at numerous conferences, and as an invited speaker around the world.

Marla was on faculty at INSEAD for several years. While there, she created and taught MBA, PhD and Executive Education courses. Corporate clients included Goldman Sachs, Bang & Olufsen, and most of the major European banks. In addition, she did consulting to novice entrepreneurs, specifically in the high tech sector. She taught at Duke University as well, and has given guest lectures and presentations at top business schools such as Wharton, London Business School and UC Berkeley.

Marla earned her BA and MA degrees in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University and PhD in Business Administration from Duke University.
