Joseph Pistrui
Managing Director
Joseph Pistrui is a Managing Director with Duke Corporate Education. Based in London, he is responsible for the design and delivery of customized corporate education programs and managing relationships with key clients.
An expert in the creation of new ventures, Joseph has a special focus on the role the entrepreneurial process plays in the creation of new ventures in established organizations. His PhD examined the ‘Strategic Orientation of High Growth European Companies’, a theme that he continues to pursue by focusing on the growth and strategic renewal process in large organizations. With a broad range of interests in Entrepreneurship that cover Corporate Venturing, Business Innovation, Family Venturing and Entrepreneurial Finance, Joseph has broad exposure to the challenges of business growth throughout the economic cycle.
Joining Duke Corporate Education from a role as the Chair, Department of Entrepreneurial Studies, for the Instituto de Empresa (IE Business School) in Madrid, Joseph previously led a faculty team with responsibility for the school’s Entrepreneurship curriculum. This group gained an excellent reputation for educating entrepreneurs operating in the Independent, Corporate, and Family Business sectors, involving MBA programs as well as open enrolment and customized in-company programs for corporate clients in Europe and North Africa. Joseph’s own client experience includes Amadeus, ONA Group, Siemens and Skandia. In addition he acted as the founding Director of IE’s Venture Lab and Venture Day outreach initiatives, which connected students with investors and the broader entrepreneurial community.
Prior to Institute de Empresa Joseph was a Visiting Scholar in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, and a research assistant at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain.
Before building an academic reputation, Joseph had a 15-year sales and marketing management career in the consumer products industry, primarily with Bristol-Myers Squibb in the United States. Additionally, he has been an advisor to early-stage and growing ventures as well as to closely held and family controlled businesses in Europe, Latin America, and the United States. |
