Mayra Garcia

Project Director

Mayra facilitates the design and development of customized executive education programs. Her role involves client relationship management, engaging appropriate external educators for tailored programs, program design and development as well as overseeing program implementation and managing project finances.  Mayra is involved in projects from conception to completion.

Mayra began her career in executive education at Columbia Business School as a Senior Account Manager.  Through Columbia and Duke CE she has been involved in Executive Education working with a variety of clients in the following industries: Telecom, Pharmaceutical, Banking, Government, Mining and Steel.

Prior to Columbia Business School, she worked at American Express for the Global Accounting and Financial Operations group supporting the Senior Vice President as his Manager Assistant. She then moved on to work in the Global Re-engineering and Six Sigma group, focusing on project managing efforts to instill Six Sigma to Sarbanes-Oxley related financial processes within the company. 

Mayra has also worked for AT&T, joining their Leadership Development Program after graduating from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas.  Throughout the three-year program, Mayra rotated through three different positions:  Manager for Operator Services, Account Executive for Wireless Industry Markets and Associate Director for the Regional Marketing group focused on Government and Education sectors.

Mayra received her Master’s Degree in Spanish Literature, Language and Culture from Middlebury College in Madrid, Spain.
