Formed in 1873, Rio Tinto is a mining company with 86 operations across 40 countries, digging stuff out of the ground in some of the most inhospitable parts of the world—and in some of the most beautiful.  We asked Barry Bloch, Global Practice Leader for Leadership and People Development at Rio Tinto, about pressures on the industry; his company's shift from a commodity market to a value-added business model; and the role of education in effecting cultural change.
