Devin Bigoness
Project Director
As a Project Director for a global client team, Devin facilitates the design and development of customized executive education programs that deliver business impact for clients. His role includes client relationship management, program design and deliveries, business development, budget creation and implementation, supplier engagement, and overall project leadership. Devin has also served as a classroom facilitator on global programs focused on leadership, brand management and communications.
With Duke CE, Devin has worked globally on programs focused on leadership, marketing, strategy and development for clients including IBM, Google, Oppenheimer Funds, Atlas Copco, Honeywell, HSBC, Ingersoll Rand, Microsoft, Citigroup and The Home Depot. He has worked in more than a dozen countries including the United States, China, Singapore, India, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Ecuador and the United Kingdom.
Building on his background in sports marketing and communications, he is particularly interested in what business executives can learn about leadership and performance from sports and athletics. With this interest, Devin has co-written several articles for Forbes.com and The Globe and Mail Newspaper (Canada) about leadership lessons from sports. Topics covered in these articles include what business executives can learn about:
- Development strategy lessons for high potential employees from rookie NFL Quarterbacks
- Repeating success and sustained team performance lessons from defending Super Bowl championship teams
- Setting up your team for success from how a World Series Championship baseball manager sets up his batting line-up
- Resiliency and bouncing back from adversity from US Open Champion golfer Rory McIlroy
He has also worked on organizational development programs for the Duke University Athletics Department. He served on the design and delivery team for the John Feagin Leadership Forum, an annual conference focusing on leadership needs in sports, business, medicine and military.
Before taking the role of project director, Devin was a program manager at Duke CE, working from the company's Durham, NC, office for three years. He was responsible for the design and development, planning, coordination, and successful execution of global client programs, serving as a liaison between clients, faculty, staff and suppliers to ensure a seamless delivery. From 2008-2011, Devin worked with the Duke CE/London School of Economics Joint Venture in London.
Before joining Duke CE, Devin worked in sports marketing as brand manager for Sof Sole, the leading brand of performance footwear accessories in the sport specialty market based in Raleigh, NC. At Sof Sole, Devin was responsible for marketing, public relations, advertising, e-marketing, product development and event sponsorship including new product launch events. Prior to this role, he served as Assistant Athletic Media Relations director at Merrimack College (MA) and Assistant Sports Information Director at the College of Charleston (SC) where he was responsible for public and press relations, game-day operations and event management. Devin has also worked as a sports reporter for WLFL-TV in Raleigh, NC.
Devin graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA in Communications. He has dual citizenship between the Republic of Ireland and the United States. He and his wife, Celia, and their son, Cullen, live in the New York area. Outside of work, he is an avid golfer and traveller.
