Cynthia Emrich

Managing Director

Cynthia Emrich serves as an integral member of a team that designs, administers and delivers innovative educational experiences for a variety of clients, including PricewaterhouseCoopers , Booz Allen Hamilton, Verizon and Merck.

Before joining Duke CE, she designed and delivered leadership and executive development programs at The College of William and Mary and Purdue University. Cynthia has also taught at the University of Delaware and the University of Otago (New Zealand).

Her research on executive leadership has been featured in Harvard Business Review, US News & World Report, The Guardian (UK), Veja (Brazil) and other leading national and international publications. Additionally, she is a member of Project GLOBE—an award-winning 62-nation study of leadership, organizational culture, and societal culture based at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Her leadership research has been published in leading journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Applied Psychology, Leadership Quarterly, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and American Psychologist.

Cynthia served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Management and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Managerial and Organizational Cognition division of the Academy of Management. She earned both her Ph.D. and master’s degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Rice University, and her honors B.A. (cum laude) from the University of South Florida.
