William J. Bigoness

Bill Bigoness serves as Chief Operating Officer of Duke Corporate Education’s India office and Managing Director of University Relations.  Prior to assuming his current responsibilities Bill served as the initial Managing Director of the Duke Corporate Education and Enterprise London School of Economics joint venture in London. He is also a member of the Duke Corporate Education Executive Committee.

Bill’s areas of expertise include executive education, human resource management and organizational behavior. His research has appeared in Management Science, Academy of Management Journal, Human Resource Management Journal and the Journal of Applied Psychology. He was the first recipient of the AMF Corporation Award for teaching excellence at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Prior to assuming his current position, Bill served as the Associate Dean and Professor at the School of Executive Education, Babson College. Between 1997 and 2000, Bill was Associate Dean for Executive Learning and Professor of Organizational Behavior at the Graduate School of Management, Boston University. He also has served as Professor, Associate Dean and Director of the Young Executives Institute at the Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Visiting Professor of Business Administration at the International Management Development Institute (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland; and Visiting Professor at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy.

Bill has participated in consulting projects and executive education programs with AT&T, British Telecom, DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, Ferguson Enterprises, Honeywell, IBM, Johnson and Johnson, Philips, Royal Dutch Shell, Sunoco, Swedish Match Corporation, Verizon, MetLife and EMC.

Bill earned his AB degree with honors at St. Michael’s College in Winooski, Vermont and received his MLIR and PhD degrees from Michigan State University.
